The Val Denn Agency was opened in 1994 when Val began booking legendary Texas songwriter, Ray Wylie Hubbard. They had met when she and her husband had opened for Ray. In 1980 Val attended Berklee College of Music in Boston where she studied jazz guitar. While there she met her future husband James. They married in 1982 and formed a husband-wife duo that produced 3 CD’s and toured the US from 1982 to 1993. She also put out a solo project produced by Cliff Eberhardt in 2000.

While booking Ray Wylie Hubbard, Val started a music series in an old Opera House in Granbury, Texas. The concert series ran a year and featured artists in- the -round like Townes Van Zandt, Terry Allen, Guy Clark, Sara Hickman, Kevin Welch and Jimmy LaFave.
